John Braida was appointed Mayor at the Chariton City Council meeting January 5, 2004.                          

The Chariton City Council invites  you to attend a City Council meeting whenever possible.  Council meetings are held  in the Council Chamber at City Hall at 7:00 pm the first and third Monday of each month.   You may come and go as fits your circumstances.   If you need more information or to be placed on the agenda, call 641 774 5991.  They will be glad to answer any questions which you may have.

Mayor John Braida presents an Appreciation Plaque to former Mayor Mary Stierwalt at an open house hosted by the Chariton City Council, January 15, 2004 in the Council Chambers at City Hall.  Also pictured is Council Member Joan Amos.  Not present for the picture, but in attendance also was Council Members Bill Kerns and Kathy Wallace.  Make your own sundaes, home baked cookies/bars and punch were served to a large number of people who stopped by to wish Mary well.

Dave Howard, President of the Corvette Club of Iowa, presents a plaque to Chariton Mayor John Braida in appreciation for the hospitality they received when the Corvette Club of Iowa visited Chariton in 2003.

The Corvette Club of Iowa visited Chariton in May, 2005.  Corvettes were on display and precision driving races were held at the Chariton Airport during the three day event.
