The City of Chariton's Police Department is operated in conjunction with the Lucas County Sheriff's Department from the Lucas County Law Center, located at 48559 Hy-Vee Road.  The Law Center is staffed 24/7 by a dispatcher which serves both the Lucas County Sheriff and the Chariton Police Department.

Pet License in Chariton

The Police Department handles not only law enforcement, but animal license for dogs and cats in Chariton. Fee is $5.00 and is renewed every year on June 30th.  An application form is available for download. All animals must show their rabies tag number and vaccination information.  

 

Chariton Neighborhood Watch Program 

Find out more about the forming of the neighborhood watch program in Chariton and take a survey. Survey is available until November 6, 2022. A public meeting will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 5:30 pm at the Chariton Community Center.
