Hotel Charitone_ Urban Revitalization Planning

The City of Chariton Urban Revitalization Plan is to encourage development, redevelopment, and revitalization in the corporate city limits of Chariton, by authorizing property tax development incentives to the private sector. 

The Urban Revitalization Plan offers incentives for the following: 

• Single Family
• Multi-Family 
• Major Renovations 
• Commercial Properties 
• Industrial Properties

Application for Tax Abatement:

All interested parties that would like to request tax abatement, may do so with the following form.  The form must be filled out and returned to the City of Chariton. 

City staff will review the request and send their recommendation to the Chariton City Council for approval. Once approved, it will then be sent to the Lucas County Assessor's Office for final review and approval for the request. 

Please note that if request is in a TIF (Tax Increment Financing) district with a current development agreement active, the request may be denied due to the financial responsibility the City of Chariton has with tax funds.
